Mayo Clinic’s Social Media Health Network community platform needed a refresh. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the process that led to the new SMHN site, launched August 2015. Lee Aase, MCCSM Director; Dan Hinmon, Community Director; and Colleen Young, Project Manager discuss:
This webinar also explains how the new SMHN platform supports community to help members enhance professional connections and career development.
Welcome everyone. We’re about to get started. 3-2-1…
Really liked the way “Webinar Live” was highlighted when I came to website to view it. Nice touch.
I have been a basic member for a year, & recently became a premium member w/ my employer. This website update made it really easy for me to navigate. Much improved!
So great to hear @cbushrn. Our next emphasis will be on mapping the network of people and organizations. This should underline the value even further with your employer. How did you make the case to your employer of the value of SMHN?
Hey @DanielleThompson. I’m thrilled that you saw the “Webinar Live” button. This is an improvement hot off the press; just launched for the first time today. Got any questions for us?
Colleen: It was a mix of persistence, passion & possibly being a pain in the rear. LOL Underscoring the value of connecting with #hcsm leaders & connecting to evidence-based practice. My org is a member network of hospitals, cancer centers in frontier, rural & urban areas of KS/MO and we always look for ways to add value to our members…and this was perfect!

Scrum: The art of doing twice the work in half the time.
Fabulous. I look forward to connecting with you on the Discussions.
Quick Tip: Use the @ mention function to notify community members.
As the number of SMHN members grow, do you anticipate modifying the community discussion area to appeal to both new healthcare providers who are becoming active online vs healthcare communicators? Could be slightly different interests…
Really appreciate your transparency and taking the time to let us see behind the scenes – the “why” behind the revamped site. Also, from a marketing perspective, it’s very pretty. 🙂
Great job.
I think there is potential – great opportunity for growth with the education module and efforts that I suspect many of us are doing within our own organizations. Really appreciate the way you all are thinking about this! Good stuff. 🙂
Also loved Lee’s description of Meredith as “pleasantly persistent”. Y’all make a great team.
