Hi @DanHinmon

We were fortunate enough to have a new Chief Executive commence with us who came from NHS UK. He has considerable experience working with patients/community and making them at the centre of everything we do. To that end, he established a Community Partnerships portfolio which looks after the advisory council and consumer advisory committees around our District (look after a population of around 900,000 people). We have just had our first community partnership strategy signed off as well as the delivery plan.

Our three main goals are: 1. increase community participation and engagement. 2. Ensure that community voices are genuinely heard and understood and 3. Improve our responsiveness towards a co-producing approach to health services and delivery.

As you can imagine it has taken us about 12 months to get this far – as for results…… that’s something that I will have to update you on in about 6 months time. Very exiting times ahead – and really embracing putting our patients/community at the centre of what we do.

I whole heartedly agree with Mandi Bihop’s post. We have been involving our community/patients for a very long time but not at the point of co-designing and co-producing with them – until recently.

We have set up an advisory council that reports to our Board and their responsibility is to design a health system (operations, processes, health information resources and the full gammit) in consultation with them – after all its for them and not us.

The more we include our community/patients the better we are going to be able to serve their needs!

Like Mandi – we’re banging the same drum here in Oz!

Oct 19, 2015 · Employee knowledge survey on social media in Give & Get Advice

Thanks Ahmanielle (love your name btw) for your reply. Our organisation is very slow on the uptake so I am going to pilot just our department/unit in the first instance and if successful use it as a business case to hopefully have it integrated across the rest of the organisation. Will let you know how it goes – dont hold your breath though – it can take up to 12 months and sometimes longer to get things up and running around here!

Oct 18, 2015 · Employee knowledge survey on social media in Give & Get Advice

Hi there

Has anyone conducted a staff survey to ascertain their knowledge, perceptions and attitudes on social media?

If so, I would be interested in hearing from you in the types of questions you asked, what worked and didn’t and if there are other things that I should think about.

The survey purpose is two fold, 1) to gain a benchmark for future and 2) to develop a set of resources and tools/templates.

Thank you in advance

Fran

Sep 27, 2015 · Logo design testing in Give & Get Advice

Hi there

I recently had a few logos developed and want to involve our local community in the decision making process. I have been thinking about posting on SM to attract their attention and then having a link to a survey to get their feedback, and choices etc.

Has anyone done this and if so, what were the results? I would appreciate any advice, lessons learned etc.

Thanks

Fran

Thanks Megan yes that is our next strategy – once we can receive funding! – it’s all about the $$$

Sep 22, 2015 · Facebook photo contest in Give & Get Advice

Hi Megan,

We tried this with Facebook about a two weeks ago. Below is an exert from our post

IT’S GIVEAWAY TIME!

To celebrate the first week of SPRING, we are giving away FIVE ‘Healthy Food Fast’ recipe books. To enter the draw all you have to do is post a photo of what your healthy food looks like in the COMMENT section below. Entries close at 12pm Friday, September 11, 2015. Winners will be contacted via Facebook.

For terms and conditions please visit: http://www.seslhd.health.nsw.gov.au/tc.asp.

Unfortunately we didn’t get a great result, actually we didn’t get a result at all. Our lessons learned:

1.We are still relatively new in the social media space so we haven’t attracted the right audience (organically at this stage)
2. FB posts only last a short time, that is, it wont come up on your feed 3-4 hours later (depending on how many you follow etc)

Hope that this helps.

Best of luck

Fran
