Vertical Video on the Small Screen? Not a Crime

Posted by @DanHinmon, Aug 14, 2015

Thanks to @JakeNews for tweeting this contribution to the ongoing debate over vertical vs. horizontal video. With apologies to @jasonpratt, a vigilant horizontal video advocate, 3 billion daily vertical videos on SnapChat may be moving the needle on this. Who knew someone could spend a year of her life researching vertical videos? What’s your opinion?

Ha! Well I can see how vertical video does fit well for Snapchat and Periscope, since the viewing of this video is only ever done by the mobile device. My thing on vertical vs. horizontal is hammering on how important it is to shoot horizontal if your intended audience is YouTube and TV screens or if you plan to edit your video with others. Mixing horz and vert just looks bad.
