Posted by @DanHinmon, Fri, Jul 28 10:29am

Twitter reported 328 million users in yesterday’s earnings report – flat from last quarter. One bright spot: earnings beat analyst’s expectations at12 cents a share on revenue of $574 million.

When President Trump first started putting Twitter in the news every other day, I thought that would be a benefit to Twitter. That people who hadn’t used it before would get an account to follow him or feel more connected to current events. That apparently hasn’t happened. Why do you guys think Twitter’s struggling?

For our part, our tweet engagement has improved this year (seems to mostly be more employees joining) but I find the ad interface difficult to use. Our Twitter ads aren’t as successful as Facebook.

I think that a social media saturation point may have been reached and new users are going to Instagram, Snapchat, et al. And the mainstream media reports on the president’s tweets so extensively that if one wants this information, they don’t need to subscribe. Just my thoughts…
