The Most Common Marketing Organizational Structures

Is your health system considering a reorg of your marketing/public affairs/communications/etc departments?

This survey asked 303 marketers from a mix of B2C and B2B US companies how they structure their marketing. The results:

  • 40% of respondents have a matrixed structure (functional silos exist but individuals have “dotted line” responsibilities across silos).
  • 38% have a networked structure (cross-functional teams come together for specific projects).
  • 17% have a command-and-control structure (directives are issued top-down, and functions operate in silos).
