Instagram Live Streaming Now Available for U.S. Users

Posted by @DanHinmon, Dec 13, 2016

If you’re in the US and want to try Instagram Live Streaming, first update your Instagram app (version 10.2 is now available). Once you’ve done that, swipe right from your home feed, select ‘Live’ from the bottom bar and tap the large ‘Start Live Video’ prompt.

Once you go live, a selected group of your friends who’ve previously shown in interest in Live video (or who have notifications switched on for your profile) will be notified that you’re broadcasting.

I tried it. I’m not sure content that disappears and doesn’t have a life beyond the live viewing (like FB Live) works for me, but I’ll follow it to see what others do.

Not sure if you meant FB Live had no life beyond a live view, Beth (@beg9040), but FYI there are ways to repurpose your FB Live broadcasts.

This Social Media Examiner article explains how to download and repurpose your Facebook Live videos on other social media platforms. http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/how-to-repurpose-your-facebook-live-videos/
