Five great reasons to plan your posts before you start writing:

  1. More planning = less editing
  2. A good plan makes it easier to write
  3. Well-planned posts are more engaging for your readers
  4. Planning can help you come up with more ideas
  5. You may have to plan if you’re working with an editor

Great post. Another bonus: Planning before you interview anyone (if you’re going to) helps you write around specific keywords. We have been emphasizing keyword research to help us optimize our blog posts lately. That might mean that instead of just making our focus keyword “breast cancer,” which has tons of competition, we might focus on “breast cancer myths” or “breast cancer treatment in Virginia.” It’s very difficult to do that if you’ve already done the interview or written the post.
