How to Create a Unique Instagram Aesthetic that Fits Your Brand

Posted by @audreylaine, Thu, Jul 18 1:37pm

Your Instagram aesthetic is the first thing potential customers will notice when they check out your brand’s profile. The colors, layout, tone, and overall feeling of your Instagram page contribute to an aesthetic that can either gain you a new follower—or send them running.

A unique and cohesive Instagram aesthetic is not just visually pleasing, but can greatly improve brand recognition and business success. It will convey your brand’s voice, personality, and help your followers instantly recognize your content when it appears on the feed.

While this all sounds great in theory, actually creating a successful Instagram aesthetic can feel like a vague undertaking. Hootsuite has some recommendations.

In Brazil, Instagram is the most used social media for healthcare sector. We've created many strategies to increase engagement. I will write some:

1 – Instagram Lives: We create a calendar of lives for companies and professionals. Sometimes, they do it alone and some time day do it with a guest.

2 – Instagram Stories: A very important tool. We've analyzed some data and we could see that at least, 7 stories per day is a good number to increase your engagement. Patients or clients feel closer to Companies and Doctors when they show more details about their routine.

3 – Hashtags: For Healthcare Sector, its really important. Many people are searching for content using hashtags. If you use good ones, you will reach more people. To choose yours, my tip is: NOT TOO BIG, BUT NOT TOO SMALL. in this way, you can get more comments and interaction.

4 – Stories x Feed: To explain the difference between the content of this two medium, I say: Stories helps your business to get relationship. Feed helps your business to get authorithy. So, if I'd like to do many posts per day, use stories. If you'd like to build your autorithy, use feed.

Great tips, @douglasgomides. Can you clarify what you mean by "Not too big, but not too small" for Hashtags? And do you have some hashtags that have been most successful for you? (By the way, it was great to talk to you when you were in Rochester a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for joining this community!)

Thanks, @DanHinmon . Yes, I can.

For example if you choose a hashtag used by 2 million people, it is too big. Many posts constantly and people won't see your post. If you choose a hashtag used by 100 people, its too small. It means. that you need to used a hashtag with medium audience. In this way, you increase the chance of people find your content.

For example, if you use only #hospitals this hashtag will be really big. Probably, if you use #hospitalbrasil or #hospitalbr you will decrease the size of the audience and turns it more effective.

It was a pleasure talking to you and I'm here to help and to participate to learn with you.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks @douglasgomides. Very useful. Admitting I'm an Instagram novice, is there a simple way to see how big or small a hashtag is on Instagram?

It's really easy. When you're writing the hashtag, they show the audience size. Instagram is really useful for healthcare sector. In Brazil, people loves following health information on instagram.

I find this interesting because when I see the number of posts using a certain hashtag, I view it as "more posts = more searchers." For example, #transplant has 195k posts but #transplantrecipient has 5000+ posts. I infer that while more people are using #transplant, more people are also searching #transplant. I think this is where the number of hashtags should be considered. The more, the merrier, IMO. So I would use both #transplant and #transplantrecipient. 🙂

When you type a hashtag, it shows how many posts have been published using that hashtag.

Yes. I can understand your point of view. But, I think if it is more people posting, there will be more content in the search page and it will update constantly and fast. So, maybe the lifetime of your post will be shorter than when you use a less general hashtag. What do you think?
