We now have Amazon’s Echo Show so Alexa can “show you things,” and coming in December, we’ll have Echo Spot, which is a smaller version. Reports of a similar offering from Google Home and Facebook are also swirling. Of course, we can’t leave out Apple’s HomePod, which will probably have a touchscreen as well.
What does this mean for the future of search? Voice search is growing in popularity but the line between voice and text is still blurry.
When you take a step back from the conversation and actually think about this conversation, i.e., asking a box a question and getting an audible response from the box along with visuals, doesn’t that sound like what we would’ve called a robot 15 years ago?! It makes me think of Rosie on The Jetsons. 🙂
