How Frequently Should I Publish on Social Media? A HubSpot Experiment

Posted by @DanHinmon, Thu, Sep 14 11:40am

HubSpot analyzed 10K different accounts on each different platform, as well as 15K posts to Linkedin company pages, 25K posts to Facebook business Pages, and nearly 60K posts on Twitter.

The goal: To discover how frequently social media marketers should post on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn – and when they should do it.

One surprising conclusion: “At the median, most posts on Facebook don’t do very well. But at the high end (95th percentile) there’s a lot of variability, especially at the beginning and end of the day. Since there are fewer posts during the beginning and end of the day, these aren’t statistical trends that marketers can count on. We suggest marketers focus on the content, not the time of day or day of the week when publishing.”

What do you think?

Don’t you just get so confused! So much conflicting advice on how often to post, best time of days. I usually just say to folks, read these guides, but then test for yourself and see what works with your audience best.

I like that advice, @MarieEnnisOConnor. Testing and analyzing is always a smart option in social.
