Here's How to Get the Blue Tick of Verification on Twitter

Posted by @DanHinmon, Jul 21, 2016

Twitter has announced they will allow anyone with an account to apply for verification, a feature that has only been available to those in the public eye.

Users can click on the following link and fill in a request form. https://verification.twitter.com/welcome

Twitter will respond to your request via email.

Thanks to @westr for pointing us to this article. However, “I tried the link and it would not accept my information,” he writes. “I’m not sure what that means. Maybe they’re swamped currently, or I do not qualify even though open to all.”

Are you able to succesfully apply for Twitter verification following the link?

I got the following message:

Thank You

We have received your request. The account will be reviewed by our team, and we will get back to you with our decision via email.

More information about the verification program at Twitter can be found here.

We’ll see…

Here is the response I received from Twitter–

Hi Sheri Donaldson,

Thanks for your request to verify @SheriD.
We reviewed the account, and unfortunately it is not eligible to be verified at this time. Please visit our Help Center for more information about the types of accounts we verify.

Hmmmm. Makes you wonder what the criteria is for eligibility. Thanks for sharing.

Very confusing, in typical Twitter fashion. Maybe we haven’t learned the ‘code’ yet. 😉
