According to Cisco, 75% of the world’s mobile data traffic will be video by 2020.
In a study of 1500 adults 18-64 in US and Canada, Facebook found “daily watch time for Facebook Live broadcasts has quadrupled in the last year, while time spent watching video on Instagram has increased by 80% in the same period.”
The number of videos posted per day on Instagram has increased by 4x year-on-year.
In this article Facebook makes some recommendations to take advantage of this increase. One idea: “Creators should look to provide video in vertical format. ‘People watch videos casually and on the fly — and they rarely turn their phones sideways to do it.'”
