Facebook Extends Auto-Captioning to Videos From Pages

Posted by @DanHinmon, Jan 5, 2017

Facebook introduced auto-captioning for video ads last February, and the social network quietly began extending the feature to videos from pages in October.

This article includes some screenshots showing how it works.

Apparently, the feature is powered by voice-recognition software, and page administrators with access to it will see a Generate button in the video editor or above the video, enabling them to add auto-captioning.

Page admins can then review, play back and edit the auto-generated captions prior to saving and posting their videos.

Are you seeing this option on your page? If so, how accurate are the auto-generated captions?

I have used it on a handful of occasions. It is very easy to use. The voice recognition can be off on some words or phrases, but is very easy to type in your own corrections. It’s a really nice feature!
