At this moment 184,927 viewers have watched the Facebook Live video of the birth of a California couple’s baby on Monday.
“I didn’t notice it was on public feed until someone said ‘Push, Push'” explains the dad, Kali Kanongata-a.
“I know there’s some people that say ‘Oh that’s too much,’ but I think it’s not really that bad,” said the mom, Sarah Dome. “Everyone can have their opinion (but) to me, it’s beautiful. It’s a blessing.”
For social media managers, videotaping a baby’s birth is one thing, but broadcasting it live on Periscope or Facebook takes patient experience to a whole new level. You can be sure that the audience is noticing the behavior of the clinical staff just as much as they are the mom, dad, and baby.
What’s your opinion? Too much? Or a beautiful thing?
And more importantly, how do you prepare for the possibility of anyone live streaming anything that happens in your hospital? Policies? Training?
