Lauryn Blakesley is an adept creator and executor of digital content strategies that make a difference. A biologist turned critical care nurse turned marketing professional, Lauryn has “seen it all” when it comes to healthcare – bench to bedside and beyond. She prides herself on knowing her audience and preaches the value of relevant content in this world filled with millions of content options. Lauryn currently works as a social media and digital content manager at Fox Chase Cancer Center, where she spreads her passion for being strategic whenever and wherever possible.
Chris Boyer is the System Director of Digital Strategy & Analytics for University of Minnesota Health/Fairview Health Services. He has experience leading internal teams and providing consulting support for hospitals and health systems across the country on digital transformation efforts, including leading digital teams at Inova Health (Washington, DC), Northwell Health (New York, NY). Chris is a platinum and founding member of the Mayo Clinic Social Media Network, an international consortium developing social media best-practices for the healthcare industry. He is co-host of the "touch point podcast" (http://touchpoint.health), a weekly program dedicated to exploring the latest advancements in digital strategies for hospitals, health systems and physician practices. In 2018, Chris was inducted to the Healthcare Internet Hall of Fame as Most Innovative Individual.
Kelly Cawcutt, MD, MS, FACP is an Assistant Professor of medicine and board certified in Critical Care Medicine and Infectious Diseases. She is an Associate Director of Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiologyy, and Co-Director of Digital Innovation and Social Media Strategy for the Infectious Diseases Division of University of Nebraska Medical Center. She holds national positions with the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. Dr. Cawcutt’s research interests include vascular access, healthcare-associated infections with focuses on CLABSI and VAE/VAP, and the use of social media in medicine. Dr. Cawcutt is also a requested speaker in faculty development, with interest in early career development and advancing the careers of women.
Jane Crosby, Regional Vice President, True North Custom, is a strategy lead who coordinates with healthcare partners to generate and implement strategies for building brand, increasing patient and referral revenue and optimizing marketing technology outcomes. Formerly with Medicom Health Interactive, Jane has extensive experience in data-driven and digital marketing strategies that drive brand and revenue growth for healthcare organizations. She earned a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Melissa Dethlefsen is the Content and Social Media Integration Manager at Hartford HealthCare. She produces segments and integrations working with physicians and clinicians to highlight key strategic service lines to increase patient volumes and brand awareness. Melissa is an Emmy-nominated producer who worked in news at a network level and in local news markets. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
Dan Dunlop is a principal of Jennings, a leading healthcare marketing and audience engagement firm. He is extremely active as a healthcare marketing consultant, blogger, author and sought-after speaker. He serves on the editorial board of eHealthcare Strategy & Trends and the judging panel for the Digital Health Awards. Dan regularly contributes articles to a number of healthcare marketing publications including Ragan’s Health Care Communication News, SmartBrief for Health Care Marketers, Strategic Health Care Marketing, Healthcare Strategy Alert, and Healthcare Marketing Report. He is a board member (vice president) of the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo) and co-chairs SHSMD’s Digital Engagement Taskforce of the American Hospital Association.
Angela H. Fritsche is an Operations Manager in the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. Ms. Fritsche received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Human Resources Management and a Master of Public Administration with a specialization in Healthcare Administration from West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV. She was previously the senior program coordinator for the Nursing Research Division where she developed and executed a social media strategy for this 3-site Mayo Clinic Division. In addition, she received Bronze Fellow status for her strategy from the Mayo Clinic Social Media Network.
Kate Gillmer is a social media and digital communication specialist at Jennings, where she oversees digital strategy and engagement on the agency’s accounts. Kate has planned and executed live Twittercasts from surgical suites during operations and has launched blogs for healthcare organizations that range from mommy blogs to hospital-sponsored community health blogs. As the lead marketing strategist for the Practical Playbook, Kate serves as Jennings’ in-house specialist on population health management, community health, and the social determinants of health.
Beth Granger is a social media, social selling, and LinkedIn trainer, coach, and speaker. She works with organizations and to help them using social media, typically LinkedIn, to extend their networking, and more prospects, and build their professional brand. She loves helping people who are not comfortable with technology to embrace its power. Before starting her own consulting firm Beth was the Director of Online Marketing and Design at Pall Corporation, a global industry leader in filtration and separation. As leader of the online strategy for the company, Beth provided the vision, long-range strategic planning, and management of the implementation for all initiatives related to Pall’s global, and multi-language, website. She also directed the web and corporate design departments, and the global corporate identity program.
Emily Hiatt is the Senior Manager for International Marketing at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston (U.S.A.). She oversees the international marketing team and supports Mass General’s strategy and relationships globally, including across the Middle East, Asia, the Americas and Europe. For ten years, Emily has helped international patients, providers and government officials find care and collaboration at Mass General (4 years) and previously Mayo Clinic (6 years). She has also served in the White House Office of Global Communications, United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the U.S. Department of Defense, and worked as a lobbyist in the healthcare and energy sectors. She received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and is working towards a Master’s in Global Security Studies with Johns Hopkins University.
David Henke is the social media manager for University of Minnesota Health and University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital. He is an editor, blogger, award-winning journalist, and brand storyteller pursuing a Master's degree in creative writing from Hamline University.
Jess Lewis is the Social Media Specialist for TriHealth, a health system with five hospitals and more than 150 locations. Her background includes marketing for healthcare, tourism, and higher education. She enjoys diving into social media analytics and trends, as well as teaching people the basics of social media marketing. She is also a craft beer and bourbon aficionado and plays in an adult field hockey league.
Jasmine Marcelin, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Associate Medical Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship at University of Nebraska Medical Center, and Co-Director of Digital Innovation & Social Media Strategy for the Division of Infectious Diseases. She is a requested Faculty Development speaker on Social Media for Healthcare Professionals and Diversity in Medicine. Jonathan Martinez is a Visual Communications Specialist at Huntsman Cancer Institute. He received his undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Utah. His interest in visual storytelling, both through photography and video, has helped him collaborate with many on his team to produce content that captures people's diverse experiences surrounding cancer. He's fluent in Spanish, cameras, and has never been to Minnesota.
Camela Morrissey is a marketing and strategic communications executive with more than 25 years of management experience and has had the good fortune to participate in many of the sea changes in the business of healthcare, including the rise in health care consumerism and connectivity. She is currently the principal of Amerge -- a high service consultancy which focuses on marketing strategy and operations improvement and includes an interim leadership practice. She serves as a board member for two non-profit organizations.
Christy Owenby is a hands-on CEO, Creative Director, healthcare strategist, and DREAMER! She founded MOXY Company to assist individuals and companies with marketing, social media, public relations, brand development, graphic design and much more. Her self-proclaimed greatest strengths are creativity and drive, and she thrives on challenges, particularly those with the goal of expanding an individual or company’s reach. Christy was a contributor in the "Best Practices for Pharma Brands" published by Crisp International and is a CME Marketing Educator. She provides medical practice clients and healthcare organizations with more advanced, strategic and HIPAA-compliant marketing plans. She has also successfully completed the Mayo Clinic Social Media Network Social Media Basics for Healthcare certificate and has received the Bronze Fellow designation.
Jen Rittenhouse is an industry-agnostic copywriter and social marketer. If there's magic in a moment, she'll find it and turn it into content that will make you slow your scroll. She has managed the social media at MultiCare, a health system, for five years. Her biggest accomplishments in health care: learning to make audacious and creative moves in a conservative and cautious environment while applying industry best practices and demonstrating lip gloss leadership. Jenn Shafer is a Marketing Communications Consultant with TriHealth, specializing in internal communication and managing the internal social media channels for TriHealth team members. Graduating from Ohio State University, she unexpectedly found herself in healthcare after jobs in the aviation and automotive businesses but is enjoying the challenge of this changing industry. A lover of travel, Jenn’s goal is to visit all seven continents and all 50 states.
Reed Smith is a digital transformation expert who helps clients ask themselves, “how do people want to connect with us?” and then build a plan using digital tools to make those connections. His work lies at the intersection of change management, patient experience, and consumer behavior in healthcare. Prior to joining Jarrard Inc., Smith spent over 15 years in healthcare marketing first as a hospital marketing director, then overseeing product development for the Texas Hospital Association, and finally as a strategist working with some of the world’s largest healthcare brands and providers. Smith brings a unique perspective to the firm thanks to his pre-healthcare days working in both telecommunications and professional sports. In addition to founding the Social Health Institute, he is a founding advisory board member for both the Mayo Clinic Social Media Network, and the health & wellness track at the SXSW® Interactive Festival. When he’s not advising clients, you can find Smith behind the mic with co-host Chris Boyer on the touch point podcast, a weekly show about patient experience and digital marketing in healthcare.
Alyssa Van Duyse, Senior Marketing Specialist at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital and HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital, leads content strategy and digital communications for HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals in Western Wisconsin. She began her career as a newspaper reporter in the early 2000s and quickly realized social media was powerful as a means of real-time communication to the masses. When welcomed to the hospitals’ marketing team in 2010, she was tasked with growing the hospital division’s social media presence. For nearly 10 years she has honed her skills in creating entertaining, educational and noteworthy content that produces high engagement while keeping marketing content aligned with the hospitals’ strategic plan top of mind.
Tina Varona is the Director of Content Marketing at Hartford HealthCare. Tina has extensive experience in the Healthcare and television industry. In 2006, Tina worked as a news reporter for CBS 4 in Miami, Florida where she appeared nationally on The CBS Early Show, CNN and The Weather Channel. Tina has received awards from The Society of Professional Journalists and the Associated Press for her work. She has also been recognized by the National Academy of the Television Arts & Sciences Boston/New England Chapter with Emmy nominations. In 2013, Tina came to Hartford HealthCare and was involved in the launch of several content marketing integrations at Hartford HealthCare. Tina has experience on the national circuit presenting at health care marketing conferences across the country including SHSMD, BRANDHIT and NESHCO.
Echo Warner is a behavioral scientist with over seven years of experience in childhood, adolescent and young adult cancer research across the United States and globally in Ghana, Africa and Dominica, West Indies. Her research interests span the cancer control continuum, focusing on outcomes related to cancer prevention, survivorship, and caregiving. With a background in public health, Echo is interested in improving access to healthcare and community services that improve the health and wellbeing of individuals affected by cancer. She has a particular interest in developing technology-based support services given the recent upsurge of new technologic tools like social media. Echo has a personal interest in working with rural and underserved communities given her own background growing up in a rural community in Utah. Echo attended the University of Utah for her undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science and Health. She later completed her Masters of Public Health with an emphasis on Global Health, and is currently finishing her Doctorate of Philosophy degree with an emphasis in young adult cancer caregiving. Echo currently works for the Huntsman Cancer Institute and lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband, Zach, and two children, Cyrus and Ophelia.
