Social Media Calendar Platform

Posted by Charlotte Barry @gumcengagement, Wed, Sep 11 1:21pm

Hi All,
I work at Georgetown University and we are looking for an engagement calendar platform that supports tracking various email and social channels – particularly in connecting students with alumni. We are hoping to build a social media plan that is all encompassing as a multi-platform, targeted Audience (medical alumni, grateful patient) based structure that works to harness ambassadors (student and alumni) as influencers. Please let me know if anyone uses any specific calendar platform programs to accomplish this, or if you have a format you can share.
Thanks!

Hi @gumcengagement. Can you explain a bit more what you mean by a calendar to accomplish these connections? Thx!

Sorry if that wasn't clear. I am just hoping to get a sense of if anyone uses any specific calendar platform programs to accomplish managing your social media outreach, or if you have a format you can share.
Thanks!

Hi Charlotte,

If you're asking about outbound social media posting, we've used ZoHo Social, Hootesuite, and now OneUp. Plus we have a Twitter engine that we've built ourselves that sends out posts on behalf of our clients. The first three off the shelf products are for repeat posting of written content we generate(articles, interviews, blog posts, press releases) and for those instances when we need to do something ad hoc. I find that they are pretty much interchangeable in terms of features, and use OneUp because of the cost and because we can easily load multiple posts via spreadsheet.

Happy to discuss further if you'd like.

Hi Charlotte!
We use SproutSocial to manage all of our social platforms which includes publishing, engaging, and also listening, but for a content calendar where we plan and collaborate with departments, we use Loomly.

Hi Charlotte!
We use a series of platforms to do so. For Facebook we use Facebook Business. For Twitter we use Tweetdeck (which is probably my favorite) and HootSuite for all around social media and Instagram.

We do have a separate Content calendar as it is mostly three people using it to collaborate. We made a very helpful Google Sheet that allows us to have a format, decide what to "plug and play" our pieces into, and what we plan to look at for each month content wise.

Are you able to share a blank content calendar?

I am not sure how to do that since its a closed network google drive, but I bet looking for online templates would possibly get you what you need.

Our communication team uses Divvy to manage their entire editorial calendar (social media, internal communications, blog posts, press announcements, etc.). It's actually a robust system that also has workflow, and the ability to share information. However, it does not directly integrate directly into social. We are investigating using Salesforce Social Studio to help with this in the future.
