Share Button on Public and Closed Groups

Posted by Alma Villarreal @mrsbv, Sat, Jul 6 6:37am

It is a violation for our member's to share a post. People outside our group will take the resource and add it to their group. I don't understand why Closed groups can have the share button removed, but a public group cannot. Does anyone have any problems with that?

Looks like you have a problem with members of your public Facebook support group taking information from the group and posting it on other pages @mrsbv – Alma Villarreal. Frustrating! This raises a couple of questions: Does your policy prohibit doing this? Have you asked members who do this to stop? I'm tagging a few other members who manage non-profit support groups for additional thoughts: @team4travis @hagm04 @womenofteal @lyndagmitchell

#gyncsm is only on Twitter so everything we share is public and can easily be retweeted.
If the information is public I don't see how you can ask members to not share it. Are they giving credit to you for developing the information?
Here is an idea. If your group has a blog and it has a copyright ( an easy thing to do) and you share blog posts to the Facebook group then you can ask members to not share the copyrighted material. How did you decide to make the group public?

It is very to monitor this. I have a problem with a splinter group using our info, but I just figure that since that FB grp. has a lot of inaccurate info, that if they take something from us at least their members are getting some accurate info. What I do have a problem with is the admin. of this group makes up fake names and PM's all of our new members and spouses. Linda Hageman, RN
