Audio and notes from today's Facebook Live equipment conf call

Posted by Dan Hinmon, MCSMN Director @DanHinmon, Mar 15, 2017

@shawnbishop and @toffenbacher gave a great overview with some specific tips for equipment from iPhone to highend AV. We’re using this thread to share some links to equipment, add tips, and for you to ask any other questions. @LeeAase will add the audio stream for the call here in the next day or two. Thanks to all who joined us! And thanks to @rmullins80 for raising this important topic.

One question today was “Can I download my Facebook live video to repurpose on my website or YouTube?” Here’s the step-by-step guide on how to download a Facebook Live Video. http://kimgarst.com/step-by-step-how-to-download-a-facebook-live-video

This is the set of lenses @toffenbacher mentioned. When you use the wide angle lens, it allows you to get close to the subject for the microphone to pick them up clearly, without the shot being so tight you don’t see anything but the subject’s face. You’ll have to warn them that you’ll be in their personal space. 🙂
There are options for various devices, and I have the 4-in-1 for iPhone 6 Plus. https://www.olloclip.com/shop/

Hi all,
Thanks for joining us this afternoon!

2. Tabletop Tripod – https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010J68OXY?psc=1
I also use the same grip mount on a regular tripod.

As Shawn suggested, your video team might have recommendations on equipment. Here are a few recommendations from our videographers in Arizona.

We’re using the Zhiyun Smooth-II 3 Axis Handheld Gimbal. It was a tough call between this unit and the DJI Osmo Mobile.
