How to Promote Patients Mobile App on Social Media

Posted by Tasneem Alnajjar @tnajjar, Jan 7, 2020

Hello Everyone,

My Hospital has recently launched its New Mobile App for patients where they can manage their appointments, find doctors, arrange their medications and much more. We’re now working on our advertising campaign in order to maximize the App Installs. I though of running Mobile App campaigns on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Google where I can reach our target audience and have them install the app. Our goal is to get 100K installs.

I would love to know your opinions on this strategy, and weather I can have better ideas for the Social Media Campaign ..

Looking forward to your feedback 🙂

Tasneem

Thanks, Tasneem. I know @Margaret_Marie worked on a campaign that was aimed exactly at this related to our Mayo Clinic app. She's in another role now, but hopefully she can chime in with some insights.

Don't forget old fashioned paper and Einsteins law of relativity! By this I mean have each receptionist print out a simple instruction sheet about the app and how to install it, and hand it to them (or their family) at check-in.

This gives them something useful to do/read during their wait time (hence the "relativity" of time ;o)) and might get you a 100 extra downloads a day (30 K in a month?) depending on your volume.

Also, and perhaps more importantly, for the older population— who might be the ones to benefit the most from this download— you can identify and help the people who aren't— quite as fluid with app installing.

We did something similar when EPIC first started up and it worked reasonably well.

Happy to chime in!

I helped our Mobile App team with a download campaign about 3 years ago to reach 1 million downloads. We used multiple tactics to do so and one of those tactics was social media. We posted organically on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as well as ran ads on Facebook and boosted organic posts that performed well. One thing you might consider doing is highlighting the different functions of the app on social media. We have run carousel ads highlighting the various functions patients can use the app for (scheduling appointments, reading healthy living content, reviewing lab results).

Hope your campaign is successful!

It's great to hear this. It will definitely help patients as well as doctors to do things easier and faster.

We are also top mobile app development company in USA and we developed many healthcare-related mobile apps.

I am a big fan of "here's how it works" videos. A simple but detailed demonstration where you walk people through everything from how to download the app, to what it does. Think simple. And remember, people watch unboxing videos by the millions. Simple works.

Good luck!
