Using Social Platforms for Live Webcast of Mayo Clinic CEO Address at National Press Club Tuesday

By Lee Aase, Director, Mayo Clinic Social Media Network @LeeAase

Our Mayo Clinic president and CEO John Noseworthy, M.D., will be speaking at the National Press Club on Tuesday at 1 p.m. EDT on “Three Imperatives to Transform Health Care in America,” and we’re using our social platforms to enable virtual participation and engagement.

The address will be streamed live from our newly redesigned Mayo Clinic News Network site, a community platform with resources for journalists. We will have more background on the News Network project in future posts, because it is another application of the social networking technology we’re using here in the Social Media Health Network.

But for now, you can go to this public Mayo Clinic News Network page to see the new design and sign up for a reminder email as we get closer to the live webcast. You can join the conversation at #FutureOfHealthCare on Twitter and invite friends to view on Facebook.

Some of you will remember Dr. Noseworthy’s address to our Third Annual Social Media Summit in October, 2011, in which he spoke about why Mayo Clinic has a Center for Social Media and why we created the Social Media Health Network. If you didn’t see it then, check it out below.

We hope you will join us online on Tuesday and will participate in the conversation.

This looks fantastic thank you. Does anyone know of research that has been done on the impact of social media on engagement as a health enabler?
