Follow-up conf call on Email marketing

Posted by Brendan McAdams @brendanmcadams, Tue, Mar 12 2:59pm

Lots of good conversation today has prompted a follow-up conversation. And in particular, I'm curious to hear 1)what tools people are using for their outreach, 2)what is working for you, and 3)are there particular tactics that you're not sure about but are considering.

Please add your topics and questions. Details on date/time and dial-in to follow.

More detail on the start of email series to physicians and patients. 2. Are outside vendors being used for creation of emails, is this a good investment? 3. Frequency more detail maybe on this? 4. Maybe share some examples of emails?

I use MailChimp. I send email 1 x month if there is relevant healthcare topic, introducing new staff member – a current topic [I certainly could do more]. I send >7,000 and avg open rate is around 50%. I also post same information I post on our FB page. We are pediatrics. http://www.northpointpeds.com http://www.facebook.com/northpointpeds Here is recent email sent this past Monday: https://mailchi.mp/northpointpeds/scheduling-coordinator-meet-melinda?e=add0fabedc

Thanks for posting this, @brendanmcadams. For those who haven't used Zoom before, click on the hyperlink. Once you're into the meeting you can choose to either show video and voice, or just use voice. No need to dial in unless you have trouble connecting – or just want to access like a phone call.

Unfortunately, I had technical difficulty and could not join. Did I see that you recorded it? Will it be posted somewhere? Is there a plan to have this as an ongoing series?

Although Zoom does have the ability to record, sadly we forgot to record this today. Oops. Yes, we do plan to do more of these on a random basis. When there's a discussion here that we think would benefit from a group discussion like this we'll set it up. @angela_k_moore do you have a topic you recommend?

@DanHinmon, bummer! I really wanted to jump on. I need to get buy in for an automated marketing platform, and hoped to gain some insights from the group. I will do some thinking on topics!

Is there a chance someone could do a brief synopsis of each of the topics?

Just doing a little follow-up after the call. A few notes:

From Litmus – re: opt-in
Single opt-in (SOI) generally boosts list size at the
expense of quality, while double opt-in (DOI)
sacrifices list size to improve quality. While list sizes
correlate with higher ROIs, so does list quality.

For example, companies that use a DOI process
for all or most of their subscriber acquisition
sources generate an ROI of 45:1, compared to an
ROI of 40:1 for those using mostly SOI. This finding
also supports our assertion that the lax permission
standards of CAN-SPAM don’t help US brands be
more successful.

Regarding another email tool –
One of my client's has been using SalesLoft for outbound emails. They get scheduled to go out one at a time, improving deliverability.

Regarding deliverability –
Litmus has a tool that analyzes email before you send it out. Not cheap, but probably worth it if your list is large enough. I just tested out https://glockapps.com/ and they allow some free capabilities that are pretty interesting.
