Does any health system use iPads in any waiting areas of the hospitals?

Does any health system use iPads in any waiting areas of the hospitals for the patients to use and if so, do you have any limiting access apps installed on the ipad and if so what is it?

We have computers in many of our waiting areas, but haven’t used iPads for this. Interesting idea to explore…lots of airports are putting these in waiting areas near restaurants (MSP and LGA are a couple of examples.) Seems it could be good for improving patient satisfaction scores. Investment would be significant…would need to see what benefits could come in patient experience and/or practice efficiency to justify.

Not in the waiting areas. However St. Rita’s in Lima, Ohio, is testing an app on Android tablets called MyChart Bedside. http://www.beckershospitalreview.com/healthcare-information-technology/st-rita-s-hospital-first-in-country-to-pilot-epic-s-mychart-bedside.html
