The Mayo Clinic Social Media Network (MCSMN) was established in 2010 to improve health globally by enhancing the use of social networking tools throughout Mayo Clinic and by gathering a collaborative learning community of those interested in applying social media in health care. Members include hospitals, healthcare communications professionals and medical providers, as well as patients and caregivers from around the world.

At Mayo, we believe individuals have the right and responsibility to advocate for their own health, and it's our responsibility to help them use social networking tools to get the best information, and connect with providers as well as one another.
