It takes less than a minute. Fill out the online form. Confirm that you’re not a robot. Hit the submit button. You’ve now agreed to donate your organs and tissues for transplant upon your death. Commence the feel-goods. That’s the feeling social marketing should give.
You can register yourself to be an organ donor here if you’d like. It’s an easy to fill out the form that took me 50 seconds to do. Every sign up helps reduce the future organ donor waiting list, which currently stands at more than 110,000 Americans. So why with 95% of people being in favor of being an organ donor, are only 58% registered as deceased organ donors?
As health care marketers, it’s important to understand the obstacles to deceased organ donation registration. Is it a lack of awareness? Is it a lack of information or misinformation about the process? What can we as health care marketers do about it? How can we reach people who have not registered? How can we get them to take action?
Learn why it makes sense to run cause marketing campaigns to strengthen your brand and do social good.
Join me at the 2019 #MCSMN Annual Conference, where I’ll share learnings about Mayo Clinic’s 2019 Donate Life campaign and we can discuss marketing’s place in health care.
