I wonder if there have been any studies to see how effective awareness months are. For example, has having a “Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month” resulted in improved morbidity or early detection at the state level?

I think there is an opportunity for Social Media Action for Statewide Health (I Call this concept SMASH!) for public private coordination of the monthly awareness months with a focus on measurable outcomes.
