By Lee Aase, Director, Mayo Clinic Social Media Network

Our 2016 Member Meeting is coming to Rochester May 17–18, with Residency on May 16.

Jay Baer of Convince & Convert, Andy Sernovitz of SocialMedia.org Health and Dr. Jason Wolf of The Beryl Institute will keynote. The day-and-a-half meeting also includes six case studies and presentations and four small group sessions with social media experts.7QuestionsGreen

Although we’re limiting attendance, we still have openings. Here are the answers to seven timely questions #MCSMN members are asking.

I’m a basic member. Can I attend the 2016 Member Meeting? Or do I need to be a premium member?

Anyone – basic member, premium member, or guest – can attend the 2016 Member Meeting. Why? Because if you’re not already a member, a one-year individual premium membership is included with your 2016 Member Meeting registration. That’s right. You’ll receive a day-and-a-half of stimulating training and a full year of community membership, all for the registration fee.

Do I have to attend both the Residency and the Member Meeting?

Many do, but you don’t have to. Pick one or the other. Or get a nice discount when you register for both.

Are there prerequisites for the 2016 Member Meeting?

No. Anyone can attend without completing our Residency or any other prerequisites.

Are there prerequisites for the May 16 Residency?

Yes. In order to attend the Residency, you must first complete the online Social Media Basics Certification course. If you’re not already a premium member, when you register for the Residency you get a double bonus – the online Basics Certification course and a full year premium membership in MCSMN.

I’ve attended Residency before. What’s different about this year’s Residency?

Now that we’re requiring you to complete the Social Media Basics Certification before attending Residency, think of this as advanced Residency. We focus more on strategy, case studies, and discussion. Depending on your expertise, this may be helpful.

If I’m a premium member, do I receive discounts for the 2016 Member Meeting and Residency?

Yes! Your membership gets you a 25 percent registration discount. If you register for both, you save even more.

I’m sold. Where do I sign up?

You can register for Member Meeting 2016 and/or Residency here.
