#MayoInOz By The Numbers

By MakalaArce

We're looking back on our just-completed international Healthcare and Social Media Summit in Brisbane, Australia and seeing outstanding results: 204 individuals from 5 countries participated.

Thanks to Twitter and Periscope, participation extended far beyond the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre:

  • Trending on TwitterThe Summit hashtag, #MayoInOz, was at the top of Twitter's trending hashtags for Australia on Day One, and was among the leaders on Day Two.
  • Nearly 1,700 Twitter accounts (more than 8 times as many people who attended in person) used the hashtag, contributing a total of 10,130 tweets.
  • We broadcasted three sessions on Periscope, and even though the times weren't ideal for U.S. viewers, the audiences were significant. Our Opening and Closing Keynotes had 660 and 805 views respectively, while a panel discussion reached 899.

The tweet with the highest engagement was our group picture, once again underscoring the power of adding visual content to tweets and posts...

... while this one from our Short Film Festival was the most retweeted:

Our keynote speaker, @SeattleMamaDoc, got the most mentions (1,386), while @MelissaCadzow was the most active tweeter, averaging more than 20 posts per hour.

For more complete data on the Twitter action, see reports from Symplur and TweetReach.

Great insight, Makala! It’s always cool to be a part of a Mayo social media experience.

Today with the help of social media, the process and evaluation were made transparent and accessible through web-based seminars.
