Making the Business Case for Social Media in Healthcare

The Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media is collaborating with Modern Healthcare to produce a special event this month as part of the magazine's webinar series.

On Thursday, August 25, 2011 we will produce a live webinar called Making the Business Case for Social Media in Healthcare: Mayo Clinic Shares Real World Applications to Improve Patient Care and Demonstrate ROI.

For those looking for a good introduction to social media and its application in healthcare -- and how to make the case for social media in your organization -- this webinar should be extremely helpful.

  • Shirley Weis, Mayo Clinic's Chief Administrative Officer, will describe her support for creation of the Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media and the important role she sees social media playing for Mayo Clinic.
  • I will be moderating the session and providing some examples from our Mayo Clinic experience, and will also describe our Social Media Health Network and the role it is playing in helping health-related organizations apply social tools.
  • We will be joined by two members of our Center for Social Media Advisory BoardDr. Christian Sinclair, a palliative care specialist, will discuss why as a physician he believes being involved in social media is the right thing to do. Why it's good business. And Chris Boyer, senior manager for digital communications at Inova Health System, will tackle the ROI question: Why is it good business for healthcare providers to participate in social platforms?
