The Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media (MCCSM) was established to improve health globally by enhancing the use of social networking tools throughout Mayo Clinic.
Recognizing the value of collaborative community learning, Mayo created SMHN (Social Media Health Network). SMHN members include hospitals, healthcare communications professionals and medical providers, as well as patients and caregivers from around the world.
Since 2010, SMHN has become a respected go-to source of training, guidance, and resources. We’re committed to supporting the best possible use of online social networking platforms to promote health, fight disease, and enhance health care delivery.
At Mayo, we believe individuals have the right and responsibility to advocate for their own health, and it's our responsibility to help them use social networking tools to get the best information, and connect with providers as well as one another.
