Mayo Clinic CEO on Social Media in Health Care


John Noseworthy, M.D., Mayo Clinic’s Chief Executive Officer, addressed the 375 participants at Mayo Clinic’s Third Annual Social Media Summit on October 19, 2011 and introduced the conference’s closing keynote by e-Patient Dave.

Dr. Noseworthy offered his thoughts on:

  1. How using modern social media tools is consistent with Mayo Clinic’s heritage,
  2. The essential role of social media in the future of health care, and
  3. Why Mayo Clinic created its Center for Social Media and is building the Social Media Health Network “to promote health, fight disease and improve health care and make it more patient-centered.”
